Terminology, Concept Modelling and Ontology. Which approach for which problem?

On 10 February 2006 the EAFT (European terminology association) training group organised a seminar together with Nordterm, titled "Terminology, Concept Modelling and Ontology. Which approach for which problem?"

Among the speakers were Nicola Guarino (Laboratory for Applied Ontology, CNR, Italy) and Christophe Roche (Université de Savoie, France) who discussed the concept of ontology from a more theoretical point of view. Lars Taxén (Linköpings universitet) talked about the practical work with ontologists at Ericsson, and representatives of some Scandinavian terminology organisations (Katri Seppälä, TSK; Bodil Nistrup Madsen, DANTERMcentret/CBS; Helena Palm, TNC) shared their theoretical and practical experiences in terminology, concept modelling, and ontology work.

The seminar was organised as a collaboration with the Vakki symposium of LSP, translation and multilinguality, held on 11—12 February.
